Frédéric Nakache has done the artwork for Linda Lamb's 'Party Spirit Volume 1' release (sss024) and for Valyom's 'Fusion' release (sss037).
Frédéric Nakache draws the inspiration for his work from childhood references. He chooses dolls and worn out baby dolls as models for his
photographs, the last reminiscences of childhood games. In this way, a
tribute is made to these toys, the receptacles of our first urges, from the
most well-meaning to the most murderous, that are still fruitful in the
imagination of those who are too old to play with them. Faced with these
indecent postures, how can one not see that dolls also nourish the fantasies
of adults. Far from reactivating the single memories of an innocent period,
they are still the echoes of a generation that has reached maturity, by
parodying these practices - from a love dance to scenes of childbirth - or
by suggesting this violence, in a playful manner. Don't the rips, markings
and various accidents registered by these plastic bodies, even though devoid
of any dramatic scene, admit certain comparisons? More than just an ode to
childhood, the images of
Frédéric Nakache celebrate the ambivalence of the
doll-like figure, inscribed into the very flesh, the attributes of
femininity not hesitating to become transplanted onto these childlike
bodies. (text by Aurelia Rouvier).
