Daniel Wihler alias Alphatronic was born and raised in Berne, Switzerland.
At the age of fifteen Daniel got hold of a Korg MS20 – from then on it was clear that electronic music would become an important part of his life. Training as a sound engineer seemed an obvious step.
Musically, Alphatronic fits best to the term Ambient Electro with the programming of sounds and special rhythms defining the overall style. Alphatronic is therefore no commercial project but an experimental platform for new sounds and melodies. That said, Alphatronic has already released 2 CDs and 3 vinyls under the Bernese label Inzec and given performances in Europe and the United States.
Daniel doesn’t work in the studio alone but incorporates other musicians as well. His Formel Project (www.formel.ch) for example, which is presented mainly live and on the web, or Must Fuzz (www.mustfuzz.com) with Tom Vedvik with releases on Inzec and PSI49net.
Looking back... During the 80’s Daniel Wihler performed with various Bernese groups: Red Catholic Orthodox, Jewish Chorus, Black Order Cowboys (Rough Trade), Schmutz Sisters (150BPM), I Suonatori (Warrior Rcds, Sounds Sessions), and collaborations with performance artists Andre Stitt and Edy Marconi.
During the 90’s Daniel produced U.S.P (Logic) and 6Pole (TM Records). He teamed up with performance artist COCO up to her death and worked in collaboration with Bruno Spoerri, Daniel Küffer and Marco Repetto.
